Its really been 8 months since I last posted on this blog. Was busy with running away from Tokyo, had visiting In-laws, then being in a 3rd World country where Internet access is limited and very expensive I really don't have the luxury to post as much as I wish. But all that changed, not that I recently come into huge sums of money to be able to pay for my Internet connections. I changed my OS to Ultimate from Home Premium and Tadaaa!!! it accepted my USB Internet Key.
Anyway so to keep you up to speed, I left Tokyo in May 8th after a huge struggle with the Japanese Immigrations. Guess they just became hyper sensitive right after the earthquake, foreigners fleeing in substantial numbers and a lot of illegal immigrants cases popping up here and there. All in the wake of the Fukushima earthquake and radioactive disaster. So my problem was, briefly, I was suppose to leave earlier but then my boyfriend at that time was rushed to the emergency room because his appendicitis ruptured. Yes! Ruptured!. Talk about perfect timing. We remain there for one more month, and by the time I was good to leave the immigrations were suspicious cause I was not applying for a re-entry visa, I got a ticket to Fiji, which they didn't understand that as a Solomon Islander I can enter Fiji Visa-less.
Then I arrived in Solomon Islands, May 8th. The next day was my Boyfriends Birthday, another excuse to skip the family reunion and head straight for the beach, yaye!. The first few weeks was spent visiting Gizo, where he proposed to me in Fatboys Resort. We came back engaged, then got married on June 30th at the magistrates office. At that time I found a job with the Heritage Park Hotel here in the Capital, Honiara. The next 8 months flew by so fast. Then it was Christmas I took him to my dads village, 2 weeks later we came back to Honiara.
I quit my Job at the Heritage Park Hotel and now I'm just hanging out at home, facebooking, tweeting and today blogging.
My Husband flew home to Switzerland 2 weeks ago. The goal is to look for a job, an apartment and I will follow suit in March.
Being back home was difficult at first. The customer service really needs improving, the government offices are always empty and not very helpful. In town there are no public toilets, so every time you need to use the toilet while in town you have to either head home or duck behind the shrubs....lol. After a week or so I manage to maneuver my way around town, with less problems. $25 for bad coffee seems like no big deal now.
The climate here is perfect as usual but I do miss the winter in Tokyo. Its beach weather all year round, even during the rainy season you get to score a good sunny day before it starts raining again.
Today I'm preparing to leave again, this time for Geneva, Switzerland. But before leaving I might jot down some things about the Solomon Islands. I know its almost impossible to find information about Solomon Islands even when you are here. I tried collecting some travel information when my inlaws visited in October and it took me months to put together a travel itinerary.
That's about it and I hope to be blogging full time from now on :)
