It's every stylish girls dilemma as summer fades into autumn- what to wear? Well that's why amateur fashion bloggers like me exist.
The first thing I noticed that will be highlighting falls fashion scene are tweed jackets. Yes! They are back! I for one find it repulsive yet adorable. For the cheapest tweed jackets go to the closest H&M.
Ankle boots are also back again, this time with a bolder addition. I'm so happy to have them back again this fall. I was already planning to buy ankle boots even if its not in fashion this fall but thank goodness!.
If you enjoyed Gossip Girls' Blair's wardrobe. You are in luck. This fall gives way to those hideous nanny dresses with the little collar. Similar to the dresses little girls wore during world war two. You can argue that it looks good, especially on Blair but a majority of us will end up looking like the house help or worse the virgin working at the post office.
Please avoid synthetic leather jackets at all cost. I know they are shinier and cheaper but c'mon!
Furs! I spotted a few ugly synthetic fur jackets today as well. Oh no! I hate synthetic fur, synthetic leather and anything synthetic, synthetic boobs....lol.
Oh! those high waist dresses and skirts. When H&M debut their high waist dress with the little apron-like fringe in neon orange I was like 'who's going to wear that?' let alone buy it. Well it turns out I was wrong. I spotted a few ladies going through mid-life crises wearing it in broad daylight. C'mon! Keep the hideous stuff for the discotheque (night club).
Boots! Girls with huge calfs and I don't mean muscular, I meant huge as in H-U-G-E, pick wisely. We ladies don't realize how high boots make us look. First if you are vertically deprived it could make you look hmmm.....bad. But dont kill yourself just yet. Suede boots! This creation can make your gigantic or miniature feet look appealing. And choose the length in which they reach as according to your height. And depending on how heavy your behind is. Finally please no more of those hideous fake UGG boots please! And the overly cow girl look. Big turn off. Leave that to Vanessa Hudgens for when she goes to Coachella.
Invest in some slouchy white shirts. It's chic it's casual (cos men like to say they love casual looking chics, even if it's not always true). These slouchy white shirts look good with anything. My favorite combination is slouchy white shirt and any leather or couduroy shorts ( bare in mind that I'm not referring to short shorts that reveal half of your bum). To achieve the Parisian vibe compliment this get-up with a trench. For those who are not too confident with their legs throw in some black leggings. To get the best result, wear it with ankle boots or heels.
Accessories are key for bringing touches of the new season to your wardrobe. This fall I opted for zips and buckles and and quirky accessories that is an essential addition to my day-to-night wardrobe. Another must-have for me this fall is the over-sized boyfriend watch, it's classic! Goes well with a glam-it-up weekend style as well as your casual-chic look. Especially those version with white dial. Or go vintage, it's still classy with a contemporary feel.
If you've never shop at a sale racks or those charity shops, or pre-used clothing shops, it's time you head there. Put your creativity into action and build your outfits around these unique finds. Half my wardrobe comes from these kinds of shops not because I am stingy (a bit broke tho) but because you can find unique items and it's fun to build your outfits from scratch with the help of your imagination, creativity, originality and a full length mirror.
Dont rush into building an outfit. What I normally do is if I find something I like even if I don't have the perfect pants, shoes or whatever to go with it. I still buy it knowing that I will find something to go with it later on. I have a suitcase full of clothes I haven't worn yet. But last Saturday was a little victory for my investment from last summers sale. A shirt-dress I thought I wouldn't wear came handy, finally!! Was a hit with the ladies at the party. And an ice-breaker, a good conversation starter once I receive a compliment I let them in on my love for sale racks and it's interesting to find that some women will never shop at these vintage clothing shops.
Mrs doubt fires weird shades are in stores. And who would have thought these 60s inspired shades would come in handy today. Before buying one check your grandmothers wardrobe to see if she kept some.
And finally Pick & Mix. This fall it's all about exaggerating. From sharp angles to cascading folds and puffy sleeves. And your style icon this season should be your grandmother of course! Homely prints and comfy knits :)
My check list:
1. I have semi-broad shoulder (my biggest asset) so I always look for clothes that are a bit loose and dropping to enhance my straight shoulders.
2. I like low cut jeans but high waisted skirts, they make my legs look longer.
3. I love cheap and unique fashion and retro-style but my fashion icon is...surprise surprise! Victoria Beckham. Because I love her dress cuts and I think I look good in similar cuts. Can't afford her dresses yet.
4. I avoid wearing thing of the season. It's good to have personality and not look like you're trying too hard to fit in.
5. I love shoes :) I have my own unique collection I shoes.
6. All time favorite scents that never gets old. Dior's addicted, miss Cherie & J'adore, Dune.
